Research

Our faculty members take an intersectional approach in their research, and train our graduate students to examine the ways that race, class, gender, ethnicity, disability, and/or sexuality operate together in overlapping and conflicting ways to affect all aspects of the human experience.  We invite you to take a look at some of the current projects of our faculty and students on our faculty home page.  Our African Feminist Initiative was created in 2015 as an intellectual hub for African feminist research and teaching in North America and hosts a bi-annual conference on African feminist scholarship and activism.  Our department regularly invites speakers with theoretical, ethnographic, and historical interests in oppression and inequality (click here for information about our events).
